With the evenings getting cooler and the ‘back-to-school’ ads ramping up, it’s hard to ignore that summer is winding down and September is around the corner. In addition to shorter days and iridescent foliage, the end of summer also brings changes to the Chapter’s leadership team. I would like to update you on three recent Board changes in advance of the upcoming Chapter elections this November.
Owing to an exciting new opportunity that presented itself upon her graduation as a Certified Executive Coach, Janet Davie has stepped down from her Board role as Membership Director. As she shared at the June Board meeting, it was a difficult choice—and the right choice for her—given the timing and scope of the business opportunity at hand. Janet made a considerable contribution to our Board table over the past six months, and her colleagues appreciate her dedication to making a difference in the lives of Chapter members during that time.
For the past two years, Board colleague Donna Howes, has held multiple roles; from Membership Director, to interim VP and ad hoc Communications lead. You will also be aware that Donna was the driving force behind the creation and successful launch of CoachingWise this past Spring. After recharging her batteries (!) and reflecting on her personal and professional goals, Donna has decided to follow her passion, and to continue focusing on the important work of building CoachingWise within ICF at the Chapter, Regional and Global levels.
As such, Donna has stepped away from the interim VP role and will return to Membership where she will be able to devote time toward ensuring CoachingWise is sustainable as a new ICF designation. I would like to personally thank Donna for her generous commitment of time and energy across multiple roles throughout this Board year – without her support, many initiatives and foundational pieces would not be in place for the Chapter.
That leads me to the next update—the Board appointment of Mike Jahraus as interim VP and President Elect for 2016. Also a ‘seasoned’ Board colleague, Mike joined the leadership team in the role of Professional Alliances Director in May 2013. During his time serving on the Board, Mike played a crucial part in consolidating a collaborative relationship with HRMA and there are exciting developments on the horizon as this joint-partnership continues to deepen and grow. Mike is a great asset to the Executive Team and I look forward to seeing our Chapter continue to flourish under his stewardship.
On behalf of myself and my Board colleagues, I want to thank Janet for her efforts and contribution during her time on the Board and once again Donna for her continued commitment. Last but not least, I want to welcome Mike to the Executive Team in the interim VP role and look forward to working with him to ensure a smooth transition following our elections.
