It was with mixed emotions that we received Tyler Wier’s news in March about his decision to step down from his role as Director of Communications with our Chapter. We were sorry to see him go; leaving behind several achievements over the last eleven months including a strategic social media campaign. In addition, we will miss his smiling face which accompanied the Tweets, Facebook and LinkedIn messages that hit our inboxes on a weekly basis!
We did however experience joy for Tyler and his new family when we discovered the reason behind his decision to step down. In addition to being the ‘father’ of a new business, we were thrilled to hear that Tyler and his wife will soon become a family of three! Tyler, we wish you and Cheryl all the best with the arrival of your new baby in May, and great success in your new business.
With regards to the vacancy for this portfolio, over the last few years the board has had an awareness of the volume of work involved in this portfolio, and the demands involved from the ‘communications’ portfolio when it comes to Chapter activity. Tyler has been instrumental in helping us strengthen the foundation for this portfolio and we are grateful for the work he has done to help us move this along.
We will continue to review this portfolio in the upcoming months along with the responsibilities that are part of this portfolio, checking with our fellow Chapter peers locally and globally for good practice along with any directives from ICF Global, and we will be sharing the evolving developments in the weeks to come.
To assist us in continuing our communication with members, we are piloting new processes and will be looking for support with specific projects related to this portfolio in the coming weeks and invite our members who are interested in getting involved – while showcasing their creative communication skills – to contact me.
